The LVAIC libraries have begun a joint ebook acquisition program, and we have each loaded over 11,000 recently published ebook titles from a number of academic publishers covering a wide range of disciplines. We will have a variety of mobile e-readers available for you to try, and we will discuss the patron driven purchase model we are testing.

In this technological age, students view "chalk-and-talk" teaching methods as antiquated and archaic. This Mathematica seminar will give a broad overview of how to begin using Mathematica in the classroom in ways that are (a) fun, engaging, and pedagogically sound and (b) do not require a user to learn Mathematica's syntax to do interesting and relevant work. Mathematica, which is used by 100% of the world's top 200 universities, is a great addition to classroom work in Math, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Business, and Engineering.

This session will look at how to unleash the power of audio within your courses. We will discuss audio basics and things to consider when using audio. In addition, we will take a look at ways to integrate audio into your course and look at some easy tools that will allow you to create your own audio files that you can then use within your course.

This initiative is called Project XP.

This session will address Blackboard's investment in Project XP, the benefits it will bring to its clients, and will highlight the first eLearning tool launched under Project XP: xpLor - Blackboard's cloud-based learning object repository that will enable a global community of users to access and share learning objects among instructor to instructor, across institutions, and across LMS platforms.

Help your students become better researchers by providing them with numerous points of access to librarians and library resources within your ANGEL course. Tutorials, subject guides, library instruction via Collaborate, personal research assistance, and more will be presented in this session.



On January 8th, 2013, Trexler Library and the Distance Education and Instructional Technology Department of DeSales University will host the 2013 Tech Fair - Unleashing Possibilities. Attendees are encouraged to relax and learn with DeSales and LVAIC colleagues and be challenged and inspired by educational technology leaders.


There will be a $18 fee for meals. The Provost's office covers this fee for full-time DeSales faculty members. Departments will be charged for adjunct faculty members and staff members.
